Technical background

NotFoundError (HTTP 404) fires when a handler looks up a record that does not exist in the caller’s tenant. Records of other tenants, soft-deleted rows and rows a scope hides answer the same way, so the response never tells a caller whether a hidden record exists.

details.entity and details.id name what was looked up. details.reason is a stable tag of the form <entity>_not_found, for example invoice_not_found, that clients can key off. File downloads under /api/files/:id answer a bare { "error": "not_found" } with 404 for the same cases.
